HOW TO SORT A WINDOWS EXPLORER FILE LIST IN WINDOWS 95/98

Having a tough time finding a file in Windows Explorer because you forgot the file name? If you know when you last saved the file, then you can find it by sorting the file list by date. If your listing doesn't display the date and time, click on the View menu and select Details. Now, at the top of the listing, click on the word "Modified" and your listing will be sorted by date, from newest to oldest. Click on it again, and the order will be reversed, from oldest to newest.

You can also sort by alphabetical order (click on "Name"), file extension (click on "Type"), or file size (click on "Size"). This tip also works in My Computer, the Find Files results window, the Recycle Bin, and other similar file listings.
