Prevent Browser Lock-Ups
If your browser locks up when you type an address, you'll have to reinstall or upgrade IE 5. If the lockup occurs just when IE 5 attempts to auto-complete the URL, you can avoid the problem by disabling this feature. In the Internet Options dialog, click on the Content tab. Click the AutoComplete... button in the Personal information panel. Remove the check next to the Web addresses box. On the Advanced tab, remove the check next to the two items beginning Use inline AutoComplete.... Click on OK. For good measure, click the Search toolbar button and then click Customize in the Search panel that appears. In the Customize Search Settings box, click on the Auto Search settings button. In the When Searching: list, choose Do Not Search from the address bar.
